It's awkward to compare this to a turbine. In a sense they're opposites, one uses mechanical energy to create thermal gradients, the other turns thermal gradients into mechanical energy. However while a normal pump is sort of an engine run backwards, the heating efficiency of a heat pump is because it's moving heat, not because it's efficient at turning motion into heat. Finding a way to run this device "backwards" would not make for a good generator.
